Transformers

The name Transformers has become a common word heard in home all around the world. Most every child has or had a transformer toy at one time or another in their life. There is even a realistic movie now out about these amazing Autobots that transform from vehicles to mighty warriors. They have been around since the early 1980’s and will most likely be around for years to come.

Let’s take a look at how the transformer TV shows got started. The Transformers first showed up on television in 1984 and was instantly a success. Kids from around the world immediately fell in love with these amazing creatures that could transform into mighty Autobots, taking on all the evil in the world as well as their own. Even the voice of Optimus Prime, done by Peter Cullen, became famous with the words “Autobots, transform and roll out!” Optimus Prime is perhaps one of the most favored of the Autobots with his ability to transform from a giant truck to a mighty hero. Kids of all ages still find him the best of the bots today.

The original Transformer television show lasted from 1984 through 1987, and then came Generation 1 which was only aired in Japan. That series lasted from 1987 through 1990. It followed The Transformers with the title of Transformers: Headmasters. There was a spin off from the Japan version in the United States that had the translated title of: Transformers: Super-God Master Force. This lasted for 42 episodes and ended in 1989. The all time hero called Optimus Prime had a new name in this one. He was known as Ginrai, the human trucker that could transform into the prime-like transformer.

The next generation came in 1993 and was called of course: Transformers: Generation 2. This series lasted from 1993 to 1995. This was not really called a series as it was mainly out to promote the new toy line up of the transformers. Beast Wars: Transformers was out in 1996 through 1998. This is one of the most popular versions of the Transformers television show. The show won an Emmy due to the awesome graphics it displayed. The next in line was again in Japan only. It was called Beast Wars and it had 2 series from it. They were called Beast Wars two and Beast Wars Neo. They were aims at the younger generation. Beast wars ran for a total of 43 episodes and Beast Wars Neo went for 35 episodes.

Next up was Beast machine: Transformers which aired from 1999 through 2000. This was a short lived show as it was said that it copied characters from the Beast Wars series. Along came Transformers: Robots in Disguise. This one also ran for just a year 2001 through 2002. This was considered a filler till the next series came along in 2002 called Transformers: Armada. This on ran one year as well and was about a promoting a new toy line up. This is where the mini-cons came out. It made 52 episodes and sparked 2 more series called Energon which aired from 2004 through 2005 with 52 episode and Cybertron which as from 2005 through 2006 with 52 episodes as well.

The first episode was due to be screened in full on November 3–4, 2007 at the NTFA Mini-Con, a Transformers convention in Arlöv, Sweden, but US toymaker Hasbro pulled their approval of the screening of the full episode. The episode had to be cut down to the first 11 minutes. Episodes of the series are available for free on Kabillion on-demand service and online at their website.

Five Autobots (Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Prowl, and Bulkhead) find the fabled Allspark only to become a part of the long-lasting battle between the Autobots and their enemies, the evil Decepticons. A space battle ends up stranding the Autobots in mid-21st century Detroit where they take on roles akin to that of superheroes, fighting both Decepticons and human supervillains.

The story takes place in Detroit, and the Transfomers' battle is renewed in this future city on Earth. Instead of being known as the Motor City, it has now become the Robot City due to Dr. Isaac Sumdac's non-alien robotic creations. Sari Sumdac, his 8-year-old daughter, is the main human character that saved the Autobots when they landed on Earth.

Transformer Decepticons

Decepticon Create-A-Bot (voiced by Steven Jay Blum): Commonly referred to as "Starscream's Pet" by the Decepticons who rightfully believe that Megatron is leader of the Decepticons, he is commonly mistreated and fully unaware of it e.g. When Starscream arrives in Hoover Dam he knocks the latter down and exclaims his orders of destruction. He is the only Decepticon who was killed by Megatron if excluding Starscream. He was killed for being too weak to function after a battle with Starscream.

Transformer Decepticons 1
Transformer Decepticons
Barricade (voiced by Keith David): Differing to the film, he is much like G1 Kup- An old war veteran. He originally never actually liked Decepticon Create-A-Bot as he was Starscream's follower and wasn't in favour of him. He eventually treats him with more respect and lets him in on the team's actions. He is most commonly depicted as the leader until the most powerful Decepticon's return from absence into power. He was killed by Starscream for attempting to retrieve the Allspark.

Blackout (voiced by Noah Nelson): One of the largest, Blackout is commonly used for transport, seen transporting Decepticon Create-A-Bot and Barricade during some missions. While you would think Blackout would be the first Decepticon in the game like the film, he is not- He is fourth (Third if you include the glimpse of him at the end of Tranquility 1). Blackout was killed in default, as part of a cut scene by Starscream. He is the only Decepticon that didn't fight a boss in the Decepticon ds game, although in the Autobot version, he was in a boss battle twice (1st was fighting Jazz, 2nd was fighting Ratchet)

Transformer Decepticons 2Transformer Decepticons
Brawl (voiced by David Sobolov): Brawl is much like a child in this version, as he acts like one, claiming Barricade to be no fun when he would not let him destroy something and when they interrogate a tank, he chases it gleefully as he fires at it, resulting in it blowing up. Brawl mentions destroying Tyger Pax, referencing the prequel. Brawl is nor killed or seen or heard from by the end of the game, leaving people to question his disappearance, but he faced iron hide and then he is no longer heard from After Starscream defeats Barricade, he might or Chances are, since Brawl did not assist Megatron in retrieving the Cube and killing Starscream, he was never killed by Starscream. However, when Create-A-Bot is about to be killed by Megatron, he mentions that Barricade and the others were killed, and others does not account to only one Decepticon(Blackout), Brawl is most likely to be killed by Starscream as Create-A-Bot could not mean Starscream.

Starscream (voiced by Daniel Ross): The possibly most treacherous, darkest incarnation of the traitor. He does not appear, much like Megatron, until late into the game. Starscream believes he is the Decepticon's true leader, although he only has control over one person and early in the game too, his Protégé, Decepticon Create-A-Bot. He is killed by Megatron for betrayal and defiance. Also his G1 repaint form, like the toy, is the Target exclusive.

Transformer Decepticons 4Transformer Decepticons
Megatron (voiced by Frank Welker): The leader of the Decepticons. He has majority of the in-game Decepticons on his side, with Barricade taking control of the situation. Soon hand he is revived, as he is the only one who could ever pull Starscream out of power and likely execute him. Once revived he kills Jazz first of all, then he kills Optimus Prime and then Starscream, for he betrayed his leader and lastly he kills Decepticon Create-a-bot because he was weak. He is the only Decepticon to have survived through to the end of the game, as he was never killed during the events of the game.

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime is a character in the Transformers universe. He is the commander of the Autobots, a faction of heroic Transformers from the planet Cybertron who wage their battles against the evil forces of the Decepticons for control of their homeworld, and by extension, peace in the universe. Optimus Prime is depicted as a heroic, brave and compassionate character who puts all his talent to use to improve the world around him. Optimus has a strong sense of justice and righteousness, and has dedicated himself to the protection of all life, particularly the inhabitants of Earth; he will battle his foes with unyielding resolve to uphold this belief.

Optimus Prime 1Optimus Prime 2
Optimus Prime
The original Optimus Prime transforms into a cab over semi truck. The truck's cab transforms into the robot mode of Prime himself, with vast strength and armed with a laser rifle. Contained within his chest is the mystic talisman known as the Autobot Matrix of Leadership (or Creation Matrix), carried by all Autobot leaders and passed down through the ages. The truck's trailer disconnects and transforms into the Combat Deck, a mobile battle-station/command headquarters with an "Auto-Launcher" robot armed with assorted artillery and beam weapons. It can also serve as a radio antenna for battlefield communications between the Autobots. The Combat Deck can launch Prime's third component, Roller, a mobile scout buggy that can easily slip behind enemy lines. Optimus' senses are tied into Roller's, and can perceive what Roller does. Injury to one component is felt by each of the others, and while Prime could survive the destruction of either, despite the slight degree of autonomy they possess, the Combat Deck and Roller would not be able to survive without him.

Additional powers included (somewhat inconsistently) in the animated series and comics are short-range optic blasts, holographic map projections, a palm mounted, triangle-shaped repulsor projector (similar in function to the Marvel Character Iron Man) and deployable hydro-foils designed by Wheeljack which allowed Prime and the other Autobots to traverse bodies of water with ease. One of Prime's more memorable[who?] abilities from the animated series was the ability to retract his right hand and replace it with a glowing energon axe; although used only once, the axe proved popular enough to be rendered in toy form several times in recent years, and made further appearances in both the Dreamwave Productions and Devil's Due Publishing comic series, and in the 2007 live action feature film.

Megatron

Megatron is very powerful and utterly ruthless. His imposing robot form is dominated by his primary weapon - his arm-mounted fusion cannon, capable of leveling a city block in one blast. During one episode of the first series, Megatron fell victim to his own weapon, when Autobot Brawn managed to get a hold of it and fired it at him. He can also sub-dimensionally link the weapon to a black hole, generating even more powerful antimatter blasts (capable of destroying a small planetary body). However, this ability is almost never used, as it leaves him extremely weak and vulnerable.

Megatron 1
Megatron
There have been several interpretations of his character; some see Megatron as a strategic leader who calls the shots from afar, whilst others see him as a tactical battlefield commander who leads by brutal example. Unlike many other villains in popular fiction, Megatron was not generally depicted as overly chaotic or insane (at first). He was highly aggressive and a megalomaniac, but there was usually a consistent rationale behind his actions, albeit that Megatron was often the only one who could perceive this.

Megatron 2Megatron 3Megatron
There have been some sparing occasions where Megatron displays a personal sense of fair play and even honor, a complexity that is most evident in his complicated relationship with Optimus Prime. There is an unspoken mutual respect between the two leaders, born of each knowing the other better than anyone else. Megatron at times seems to derive enjoyment from the perpetual conflict that exists between them — the pleasure of ending the life of Optimus Prime will be Megatron's and Megatron's alone, and to ensure this, he has aided Prime in the face of greater threats, such as the Combaticons or Jhiaxus's second generation Cybertronians. In instances such as these, the two have come to face the fact that were it not for their diametrically opposed ideology and views, in another life, the two could be comrades — a fact that Optimus Prime views as a tragedy, but which provides Megatron with amusement.

Starscream

Transformers Cybertron Starscream is a Decepticon that frequently appears in many of the Transformers series. He sometimes takes the role as leader of the flying Decepticon Seekers and other times he's known to be second in command under the almighty Megatron. In various instances he manages to seize complete control of the Decepticons when Megatron is killed by Optimus Prime. However Megatron always gets back to him in one way or another to regain his rightful position as leader of the devilish crew.

Starscream 1
Starscream
Starscream's only true ambition is to tackle Megatron's leadership of the Decepticons rather than follow orders. His cruelty and superior intelligence actually makes him a real threat to Megatron, but his inferior strength always leave him defeated. He thinks himself of being more modern than Megatron and often takes pleasure in critizicing him for his old-fashioned ways. Starscream obsession for speed-tactics makes him think that Megatron's brute strategy of sheer force and destruction inferior. Verbal and physical rivalries are not a rarity between the two, but these often end up with Starscream being ridiculed in front of other Decepticons.

Starscream 2Starscream
In the animated series Transformers Cybertron Starscream was actually an Autobot who worked with Skyfire as scientists during the Golden Age. The two went on to explore planet earth and Skyfire mysteriously disappeared. When Starscream returned to Cybertron they were in plain civil war, and he decided to join the Decepticons because he thought destruction was much more exciting than his old scientific pursuits. Starscream was one of the Transformers who were trapped and frozen in earth for million years. However, thanks to a volcanic explosion the Decepticons were miraculously reactivated, Starscream along with them. Starscream mistakenly shook the Autobot base with one shot causing the Autobots to also reactivate thus the endless war between the Autobots and Decepticons continued.

Starscream 4Starscream
In the 2007 Movie the writers agreed that Starscream would maintain his negative attitude and rivalry against Megatron. Although Starscream selfishly escapes when he notices the Decepticons had been demolished by the Autobots, the movie doesn't do a good job of showing the rivalry between the two. Following Transformers tradition, Starscream can turn into a full powered jet. In this case he turns into a modified F-22, being bigger than the average Decepticon. Transformers Cybertron Starscream's Jet characteristics give him the ability to make huge jumps when he's in robot mode. He can also use any of his two wings as deadly swords against his enemy.
